Lee Marvin: A Personal Portrait By John Boorman
The BFI Collection
John Boorman and Lee Marvin collaborated twice: on the classic thriller POINT BLANK and the enigmatic war story HELL IN THE PACIFIC, a film resonating with Marvin's experiences as a US Marine in World War II. This work led to a mutual admiration and close friendship that lasted for nearly 20 years until Marvin's death in 1987.
John Boorman's documentary records his personal quest to understand this˜complex, colourful, crazy man who had such a profound effect on his own life and work. Includes interviews with William Hurt, Jim Jarmusch and Marvin's widow, Pamela.
