Georgina Oliphant, bored but rich divorcee, is approached by her father, a pharmaceutical tycoon, to find a sculptor to create a huge bronze statue, which he will sponsor for tax purposes. Georgina picks gay sculptress, Lily Carmichael, and proposes a male nude in the classical tradition. Georgina, however, falls in love with the unemployed Karl-Heinz, the nude model for the statue, underestimating the jealously of his cold wife, Cecelia, who is a member of an obscure religious sect.
